Wayne Lee Donaldson, 48, of Mid Ave. Weston passed away at 10:26 pm on Monday November 25, 2013 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a courageous journey to recover from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Lewis County on January 1, 1965 a son of the late Frank Edward Donaldson and Lona Elta Parmer Donaldson Henry, who lives in Weston.
On April 27, 1995 he married the love of his life, the former Candace Lee Wilson and they enjoyed a total of 29 years together.
Wayne's spirit for adventure and love for life will be carried in his two children: Christopher Donaldson and wife Kristin , and Deadra Elta Donaldson, both of Weston; two grandchildren: Emma and Emily Donaldson; five siblings: Joetta Anderson and husband George of Jane Lew, Barbara Dadisman and husband Roy of Philippi, Rebecca Bales and husband John, Frank Edward Donaldson Jr. and wife Renee, Kathy Birkhammer and husband Darryl, all of Weston; cherished friend, Richard Elliott of Weston; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Marley and Kiarra, who miss him very much.
He was employed as a truck driver for Elite Oil and Gas Services. "Big Dog" was a Charter Member of #1376 Rider's Group and a member of Hogs and Heroes WV Chapter #1, and the Weston Loyal Order of Moose. He felt most alive when he was saddled on his 2010 Harley Davidson Street Glide, traveling the open road, and riding like the wind. He and Candy often rode in Poker Runs for charitable organizations and fundraising events. He also enjoyed deer hunting, watching action adventure movies, and spending time with his grandchildren. Whatever he did, he did with all his heart.
Wayne's request for cremation has been honored and friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. in Jane Lew on Saturday December 7, 2013 from 1-3 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 pm from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wease Day officiating.
Wayne invites his biker family to join him for his "Last Ride", which will be held in the Spring. It will be an extraordinary ride to honor friendships forged through the years and share memories of their many adventures with "Big Dog". The details will be announced at a later date.
